Your Questions About Gluten Free Pie Crust | Health And Fitness

Dave answers:

1 cup white rice flour
1/2 sorghum flour
1/2 cup potato starch
3 tablespoons sweet rice flour
3 teaspoons sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon strong cinnamon (I use Saigon cinnamon from World Spice Merchants)
8 tablespoons (or, one stick) cold butter
1 large egg
2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
1/4 ice-cold water, or enough to make the dough stick together

Mix together all the dry ingredients, including the sugar and cinnamon. Cut the butter into little pieces, about 1/2-inch thick and drop the pieces into the dry ingredients. Using a pastry cutter or fork, meld the butter into the dry ingredients until the butter has crumbled into pea-sized pieces.

Make a well in the dry ingredients. Drop the egg and apple cider vinegar in, then stir them in, gently, with a fork, stirring from the center out. Once they are incorporated into the dry ingredients, slowly drizzle the ice-cold water into the mixture, a little at a time, then stirring to see if it has become dough yet. You do not want this dough to be too wet. Add water only it all coheres together.

At this point, drop the ball of dough onto a large piece of parchment paper. (Prepare this ahead, unless you want to wipe dough off the box of parchment paper later!) Place another piece of parchment paper, the same size, on top of the dough. Gently, smash the dough outward, equally in all directions, until it is a thick, round cake of dough, about the size of a pie plate.

Refrigerate the ball of dough, for as long as you can stand. Ideally, you would prepare the dough in the evening and refrigerate overnight. Take the dough out of the refrigerator at least twenty minutes before you want to work with it.

Leave the dough in the parchment-paper sandwich and roll it out. By rolling it, gently, between the pieces of parchment paper, you will not need to add more flour to the mix. Roll it out as thin as you can, then strip the top piece of parchment paper off the dough. Gently, lay your favorite pie plate on top of the dough, then flip the whole thing over. The dough should sag into the pie plate. You can crimp the edges at this point. If some of the dough falls off the sides, don?t worry. Simply re-attach the pieces to the crust-to-be by pressing in with your fingers.

ge lighting room makeover

I was recently asked to do a room makeover using GE Lighting!
Now that sounded like a fun challenge!? Lighting is HUGE!!!
Sometimes changing the lighting in a room can change the whole atmosphere!?
Annnd I had the perfect room in mind that needed a little something?my kitchen!
So I headed to Walmart to pick up the things I needed for my makeover!
Smile

IMG_20120526_135509? IMG_20120526_140758IMG_20120526_140936

As usual Walmart did not disappoint!?
It?s shelves were stocked full of lighting choices!
So much to choose from!?
I LOVED all the options from GE Lighting.???
Lots has changed since the last time I went shopping for light bulbs!
{You can check out my whole shopping trip HERE.}

So here?s the run down on what I wanted to change in our kitchen.? We have a very long kitchen.? We have plenty of light coming in on one end.? Our table sits right in front of our patio doors & a window so during the day we get lots of natural light, but at night it?s a different story!? The light fixtures in our kitchen were waaaay too small.? So at night it was dark!? So I wanted to change that up!? We also had out dated light bulbs that were not energy efficient!? Not good!? I am all about saving some money.? So it was time to swap out those old bulbs for some new energy efficient ones!?

So here is what it looked like before:

gelighting 8

I picked up some GE LED decorative candle bulbs for our chandelier.? I also picked up some GE Reveal light bulbs.? What I LOVED about both of these bulbs was that they looked like normal bulbs!? I?m not a huge fan of the swirly twirly type bulbs, so I was super excited about their design!? They are suppose to last 7+ years, too!? Yay!

gelighting 11? gelighting reveal

Walmart also carries light fixtures, but I couldn?t find the exact one I wanted so on the way home we swung by a home improvement store, & I found a track lighting fixture that was a perfect match to the lights we already have.? So we grabbed that.? I knew that with the combination of the new bulbs & more lighting it was going to be AWESOME!?
I couldn?t wait to get home & put my hubby to work!? {Thanks, honey! You?re the best!}? Smile

Below is a picture I took later on that night!? Wowzers!?
Do you see all that light in my kitchen???
It?s amazing!? We can see! Yay!?
It almost make me want to get in there & cook something?almost!
Winking smile

gelighting 1?

I LOVE the new GE Lighting in our kitchen!? We really should of done this a long time ago!
I also love that we will be saving money in the long run by using energy efficient light bulbs.
Now if I can just get my kiddos to remember to turn their lights off when they leave a room & to close the door when they go outside we?d be doing even better! Winking smile

gelighting 4?
I also figured out that by replacing the 6 bulbs in our kitchen with energy efficient bulbs
I will save almost $40 annually & over $200 over the life of the bulbs.?

{You can go HERE to calculate your savings, too!}

Balancing Work and Family: The Art of Diplomacy | Brenda Chapman

BHow to balance work and familyalancing work and home life really can be quite the juggling act. After a long day of managing colleagues and tackling a never-ending to-do list, you arrive home only to spend your evening navigating a maze of family time, household chores and making sure your kids have done their homework.

Yet in the midst of dealing with the insanity (and maybe a frayed nerve or 20), you might just have one of those epiphanies that make you suddenly see what you?re doing wrong and exactly how to fix it. The kind that comes to you when you?re in the middle of something and you feel like Elmer Fudd when the light bulb literally goes off above his head, and suddenly it?s hard to concentrate on what you?re doing in that moment. (For the younger generation, replace Elmer Fudd with Spongebob Squarepants). I had one a few years back ? and I think it was one of the most important of my life. I honestly believe it saved my marriage.

The Back Story

As a leader ? head of story and director ? I always make the best effort I can to keep my crew happy. To make the people who work under my guidance feel appreciated, listened to and feel like they contribute to the creative process of the film. I don?t buy into the ideal of ?conflict creates creativity? ? all that does is make people unhappy and want to get the project over with as quickly as possible without caring if it?s good or not. It?s surprising how many studio leaders and directors play into that philosophy. Maybe it?s the ?get the project over with as quickly as possible? part that they like.

I learned my philosophy from some of the best directors at Disney back in the 80?s and 90?s ? John Musker & Ron Clements (The Little Mermaid) and Roger Allers (The Lion King), to name a few. They always made me feel like what I had to say was worth listening to. Whether they ended up using my input or not, I always felt heard, not ignored. They were always respectful and receptive ? a lovely combination.

So one day, a few years back, I was having a very challenging time ? one of my collaborators was being kind of difficult, and I was doing the best I could to keep the waters calm, trying to listen to what the person was frustrated about ? and figure out how I could keep this working relationship going since we had a few years ahead of us to work together on the same film. Although it was challenging, I managed to smooth things out and give this person what he/she needed to feel like he/she was contributing ? and being heard. (That person went on to contribute many great things to the film, by the way).

While I was in the middle of that moment, thinking about how hard I was trying to make this work (despite the fact that, yes, sometimes I?d just like to tell them where they can get off and move on)?that?s when I had my epiphany.

The Light Bulb Moment

In that moment, I realized: ?Why do I spend so much effort trying to make nice with people that don?t mean as much to me as my family ? yet I don?t make the same effort with my family? Am I an idiot??

Being diplomatic can be really hard, and so I would leave that side of me at work. At home, I?d get impatient. I?d snap at my daughter and my poor husband when things got a little askew. Why couldn?t they see that I?d had a long hard day of holding things together and hold things together for me when I got home? It always annoyed me when my husband would tell me that the people who thought I was so nice had no idea what the real Brenda was like when she got home. And he was absolutely right!

OMG! I?d turned into my mother after all!

So from that epiphany forward, I made the ?effort? to use my diplomacy skills at home. And you know what? It didn?t turn out to be hard at all. In fact, it was easier ? so much easier! And the reward was seeing how happy I could make my family? and in turn, feeling it come back my way. My husband doesn?t say I?m not the same Brenda anymore ? only when he wants to tease me. And that?s okay. I love it when he teases me.

Granted, it doesn?t always work with my almost 13-year-old daughter. My husband and (most of) my colleagues are ?reasonable? adults. ?Reasonable? is not necessarily a term I?d use for a teenage girl arguing with her mom. She has to come to her own epiphany, I guess.

What is your leadership philosophy? Or what philosophy does your boss seem to use with you? I?m curious ? how does it gel with or affect your home life?

Home Improvements to Make Your Property Feel Bigger - InsaneTwist

Most homeowners like the idea of having a bigger house that they can move around in. However, rather sadly, many people do not have the necessary income or assets to be able to afford a big house. While it may not be possible to afford a giant house, there are some small renovations and improvements that can be done to make a house feel much bigger.

Storage, storage, storage!

Have a look around you - just how much of your stuff do you really use on frequently? Why not try and put everything you haven?t used in the last week away into a cupboard, under the stairs, into your garage, or in mini storage. For example, why do you have a blender on your kitchen surface which you haven?t used since the day you bought it? Are those random trinkets on your coffee table just mess when you really think about it? 30 minutes of intense scrutiny can make your home feel far less cluttered - it?s extra space, for free.

Knocking Out a Wall

One of the strategies that can make the most difference is knocking out a wall inside the house. By removing a wall, the home can really be opened up, literally and figuratively, and can feel much more spacious. In some homes, there is a wall between the kitchen and the dining room or between the kitchen and living area. By knocking out this wall in particular, it can create an open concept feel that really changes the dynamic of the space. When knocking out a wall, it is important to make sure that the load is taken care of with support beams; otherwise, it could lead to some major problems with the house overall.

Raise the Ceilings

Raising the ceilings in a room can also make a big difference as far as how big it feels. Even though changing the ceiling height does not actually make the remaining space bigger, it definitely makes a difference when it comes to spending time in the room. This may or may not be possible in certain properties, depending on the height of the roof itself. Indeed, this can turn into a very big job, depending on the layout of the house. This is an idea worth checking out, however, because in some cases it's much easier than others - it's amazing how much lighter it can make your room feel.

Use Every Space

In many houses, there are areas that are completely unused by the family. For example, many homes have formal dining rooms that never get used because the families eat in the kitchen or in the living room. In this situation, why not just use this space for something else? Turning the formal dining room into some other kind of room that will be used more often will mean your family tend to be a bit more spread out through the house - set up a playroom and your kids stuff will no-longer be found all over the kitchen! While this may not always be an option for every family, some could utilize the strategy successfully without missing out on anything at all.

Installing an Extension

Installing an extension, such as sunroom - or if you're in the UK, a conservatory -, literally will make your house bigger! Particularly with conservatories, the windows all around the exterior of the room will make it feel very large as well. Getting an extension added on, and then the wall knocked through (so everything is open plan), with large windows can totally transform a home.

At the very least, have a good tidy! Maybe think outside the box, and organize your garage so you can take some of your possessions cluttering your shelves and cupboards and put them where they're out of sight - a recent interior design magazine ran a study and found that the average American uses fewer than 15% of items on their shelves on a monthly basis!

Written by James Hawkins, from a site providing a free design and conservatory prices across the UK.

Commonly Used Painkillers May Protect Against Skin Cancer

A new study suggests that aspirin and other similar painkillers may help protect against skin cancer. Published early online in CANCER, a peer-reviewed journal of the American Cancer Society, the findings indicate that skin cancer prevention may be added to the benefits of these commonly used medications.

Aspirin:?regular strength enteric coated aspirin tablets

Credit: Wikipedia

Previous studies suggest that taking nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, or NSAIDs, which include aspirin, ibuprofen, and naproxen, as well as a variety of other nonprescription and prescription drugs, can decrease an individual's risk of developing some types of cancer. Sigr?n Alba J?hannesd?ttir, BSc, of Aarhus University Hospital in Denmark, and her colleagues looked to see if the medications might decrease the risk of the three major types of skin cancer: basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and malignant melanoma.

The researchers analyzed medical records from northern Denmark from 1991 through 2009 and identified 1,974 diagnoses of squamous cell carcinoma, 13,316 diagnoses of basal cell carcinoma, and 3,242 diagnoses of malignant melanoma. They compared information, including prescription data, from these patients with information from 178,655 individuals without skin cancer.

Individuals who filled more than two prescriptions for NSAIDs had a 15 percent decreased risk for developing squamous cell carcinoma and a 13 percent decreased risk for developing malignant melanoma than those who filled two or fewer prescriptions for the medications, especially when the drugs were taken for seven or more years or taken at high intensity. Individuals who took NSAIDs did not seem to benefit from a reduced risk of developing basal cell carcinoma in general, although they did have a 15 percent and 21 percent reduced risk of developing this type of cancer on less-exposed sites (body areas other than the head and neck) when they took them long term or at high intensity, respectively.

"We hope that the potential cancer-protective effect of NSAIDs will inspire more research on skin cancer prevention," said Ms. J?hannesd?ttir. "Also, this potential cancer-protective effect should be taken into account when discussing benefits and harms of NSAID use."

Bitter primaries undercut GOP hopes in 3 states

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) ? Mutual admiration was the rule for Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson's listening session at the University of South Florida.

School provost Ralph Wilcox introduced the two-term senator as a "steadfast advocate for all Floridians." Nelson, best known for flying the space shuttle Columbia in January 1986, flattered the more than two dozen students present, saying they had a keen sense about people running for elected office. "You guys can usually smell out folks. You can spot a phony," he said.

Nelson collected their personal stories about the unbearable weight of student loans for a Senate speech days later on the need to keep the interest rate low. At the conclusion of the hour-plus session, he posed for photos with students.

Don't go looking for compliments and congeniality in the Republican primary to decide Nelson's election-year challenger. It's one of the meanest races in the country.

George LeMieux calls rival Connie Mack a congressional no-show, claiming that the four-term House member spends more time in California with his wife, Rep. Mary Bono Mack, than either in Florida or on Capitol Hill. A devastating web video from LeMieux portrays Mack as Hollywood bad boy Charlie Sheen, highlighting years-old bar fights and Mack's previous experience as an events coordinator for Hooters.

Privately, top Republicans in the state bemoan their choices and the GOP candidates' anemic fundraising.

It wasn't supposed to be like this in Florida or Pennsylvania or Michigan, three presidential battleground states. Republicans romped in all three in 2010, grabbing governorships, seizing majority control of state legislatures, and winning House and Senate seats. The three Democratic senators facing re-election in 2012 ? Nelson, Bob Casey of Pennsylvania and Debbie Stabenow of Michigan ? were certain to face top GOP recruits and strong political headwinds.

Now, roughly five months to Election Day, the three states look like missed opportunities for the GOP.

In Pennsylvania, Republican Gov. Tom Corbett's choice to challenge Casey finished an embarrassing third in the April primary. The GOP nominee is Tom Smith, who made a fortune in the coal mining business but lacks the name recognition of Casey, the son of a popular former governor.

In Michigan, former Rep. Pete Hoekstra, who finished second in the 2010 GOP primary for governor, stumbled in January with a controversial ad in which a young Asian woman spoke in broken English about China taking U.S. jobs. He faces a challenge from Clark Durant, who has the support of top Republicans Spencer Abraham and Saul Anuzis in a likely five-man primary on Aug. 7. Abraham represented Michigan in the U.S. Senate until he was ousted by Stabenow in the 2000 election, while Anuzis is running for Republican National Committee chairman.

The GOP envisions a road to a Senate majority ? it needs a net gain of four seats to win control ? but at this stage, Pennsylvania, Michigan and Florida aren't prime real estate.

"The environment can change in pretty short order," Casey said in an interview, recalling his father's success in 1990 and President Bill Clinton's in 1992, followed by Republican wins in 1994 and 1998. "We don't know what 2012 will be. We don't know whether it will be a dramatic departure from 2010 or not."

Christopher Borick, assistant professor of political science at Muhlenberg College, describes Casey as the prohibitive favorite based on his solid approval ratings, crossover appeal with Republicans and independents and his willingness to challenge President Barack Obama on several issues, most notably the requirement ? later amended ? that religious schools and hospitals provide insurance for free birth control to their employees.

Votes in Pennsylvania for Romney and Casey "won't be uncommon," Borick said.

Casey has $5.3 million cash on hand to Smith's $2 million, though the senator said "it's always a struggle when you're running against someone who can take out a pen" and write a personal check. Stabenow, who recently completed work on a five-year farm bill as chairwoman of the Senate Agriculture Committee, has close to $7 million cash on hand, while Hoekstra and Durant have about $1.5 million apiece.

In Florida, Republicans describe Nelson as one of the luckiest politicians, with support they insist is a mile wide but only an inch deep. They point to his less-than-formidable opponents in past elections, former Rep. Bill McCollum and divisive 2000 recount figure Katherine Harris, whom he beat 60-38 percent in 2006.

Mack, in the first rush of fundraising, emerged with just $1.38 million cash on hand at the end of March, according to Federal Election Commission reports. LeMieux had $1.19 million. By comparison, Nelson reported $9.54 million cash on hand to run in a state with 10 expensive media markets.

This spring, Republicans, including freshman Sen. Marco Rubio, had talked up the candidacy of Florida's chief financial officer, Jeff Atwater, but he decided against running.

LeMieux claims Mack ? great-grandson of baseball Hall of Fame manager Connie Mack and son of the former senator ? is in Washington on name recognition only.

Mack "doesn't have the competency or character to be U.S. senator. If his name were Connie Smith, he wouldn't have been elected to anything," LeMieux said in an interview. LeMieux, who served as interim senator, added, "It's hard to ask for a promotion when you're not showing up for work."

Mack has the backing of likely Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney and is considered the front-runner in the Aug. 14 primary. He's answering LeMieux's attacks with his own assault.

Seizing on published reports last week, Mack's campaign called for a Justice Department investigation into allegations that LeMieux pressured then-Gov. Charlie Crist to appoint him to the Senate for the remaining 16 months of Republican Mel Martinez's term in 2009. The newspaper reports suggested the two had a quid pro quo, with LeMieux backing Crist's unsuccessful Senate bid in 2010.

Mack shrugs off LeMieux's criticism as "juvenile" and insists that the former senator should be ashamed.

"George LeMieux is fixated on making a joke of his own campaign. We're fine to let him do that," Mack said in an interview, arguing that he's more focused on addressing the nation's problems.

Stepping into this scorched earth race is former Rep. Dave Weldon, who launched his late bid arguing that none of the candidates, including businessman Mike McCalister, has won over conservatives.

The races are certain to tighten as the November election closes in, especially with a divided electorate, outside money in the millions, and Obama and Romney spending millions more.

"Keep your eye on Florida because it is ground zero," Nelson said in an interview, pointing out that Florida's 29 electoral votes make it the biggest prize among swing states.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce recently spent $2 million on an ad criticizing Nelson for his support for Obama's health care law.

"Obamacare will be a nightmare for seniors," the ad says. "Did Bill Nelson consider the consequences when he cast the deciding vote for Obamacare?"

Among several locations, the ads ran in Tallahassee and Panama City, part of the Florida Panhandle in the northwestern part of the state. The choice was intentional as state Republicans and Democrats say the folksy Nelson runs stronger in the Panhandle than most Democrats, including Obama.

Mack is already trying to undercut that support, referring to Obama and Nelson as "two lock-step liberals who are joined at the hip."

Nelson will benefit, though, from the Obama campaign's strong organization in the state, said Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer, a Democrat who recently was re-elected.

"They've been at it for a year already in central Florida. ... They have a very visible presence," Dyer said.

Giant telescope to be in South Africa, Australia

PRETORIA, South Africa (AP) ? Australia and South Africa will share hosting of a giant radio telescope made up of thousands of separate dishes and intended to help scientists figure out the make-up of the universe, the international consortium overseeing the project announced Friday.

South Africa led an African consortium that included Botswana, Ghana, Kenya, Madagascar, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia and Zambia, and telescopes will be erected in all its partners. In South Africa, dishes will be added to a remote site in the arid Karoo desert where a smaller radio telescope project already is under way.

South Africa and Australia, which partnered with New Zealand in bidding for the project, had competed fiercely. South Africa claimed victory Friday, saying it got two of the projects three major components.

"We may feel slightly disappointed that we didn't get the whole thing. But I think one should emphasize that we did get most of it," said Justin Jonas, the chief South African scientist on the project. "Two-thirds of the biggest instrument in the world is still the biggest instrument in the world."

South Africa's science minister Naledi Pandor and scientists who had prepared the country's bid celebrated with an Africa-shaped cake at a news conference in South Africa's capital.

"This marks a real turning point in Africa, where we are becoming a destination for science and engineering, and not just a place where there are resources and tourism opportunities," Jonas added.

Australia also welcomed the split decision.

"It is an outstanding result for the Australia-New Zealand bid after many years of preparation and an intensive international process," said Sen. Chris Evans, Australia's science minister.

The Square Kilometer Array telescope will be 50 times more sensitive and scan the sky 10,000 times faster than any existing telescope. It requires huge open spaces with very few humans.

John Womersley, chair of the consortium's board, said the telescope will help scientists answer key questions: "Where do we come from? Where are we going? What is this universe we live in?"

"We don't understand what 96 percent of our universe is made of," he said.

The organization said dividing construction of the telescope will "maximize on investments already made by both Australia and South Africa."

Womersley said that splitting construction between the two nations will likely add around 10 percent to the ?350 million ($439 million) cost of the first phase of building the giant telescope. But he said there would be a payoff for astronomers.

"It delivers more science in phase one. The capabilities of this instrument are greater than the original design," Womersley said.

It?ll last 13 years ? the length of time the United States spent building up its major combat presence there to more than half a million troops under three presidents, losing 58,282 American service personnel, battling politically over a war that most Americans eventually rejected, and then disengaging in defeat ? hurriedly leaving as North Vietnamese forces swept into what was then Saigon as US helicopters lifted off building tops carrying what few South Vietnamese families they could.

Aside from family and friends (and not all of those), it was years before most Vietnam vets heard a ?welcome home? ? officially not until the dedication of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in 1982. And even that was controversial ? critics called the stark, black granite wall inscribed with the names of those lost ?a black gash of shame.?

Two stories of how Vietnam came home to the family

As some veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan did last week, some Vietnam veterans ? largely a young and scruffy lot still wearing their jungle fatigues, some bearing the wounds of combat ? had tossed their medals over a fence on Capitol Hill in protest. One of the antiwar leaders at the time was a young US Navy lieutenant named John Kerrey, now a veteran US senator.

Members of the Vietnam generation faced ?their war? in different ways.

More than 3 million served in Southeast Asia, most of them not draftees but volunteers. Some left the country for Canada and other countries to avoid the draft. Others found legal ways to avoid service. Some (like former vice president Dick Cheney, who said he had ?different priorities? at the time) accumulated multiple deferments. More than 300 professional athletes got Reserve or Guard appointments, including?Bill Bradley, Nolan Ryan, and seven members of the?Dallas Cowboys. So did former president George W. Bush.

In recent years, there have recurring stories of men who embellish (or flat out lie about) their military experience. The list is uncomfortably long.?Actor Brian Dennehy, Toronto Blue Jays?manager Tim Johnson, former?U.S. Rep. Wes Cooley,?Pulitzer-winning?historian?Joseph Ellis.

Vietnam vet?B.G. Burkett, author of ?Stolen Valor: How the Vietnam Generation Was Robbed of Its Heroes and Its History,? claims to have revealed more than 2,000 men who falsely claimed to have served in Vietnam.

In his proclamation for the commemoration, the President hinted at the domestic strife that marked the war, referring to its veterans as those ?who saw our country through one of the most challenging missions we have ever faced.?

?It is never too late to pay tribute to the men and women who answered the call of duty with courage and valor,? he said, evoking the call to ?separate the warrior from the war,? however long after the fact that would come.

And at ?the wall,? he took further note of how many returning vets were treated.

?Often you were blamed for a war you didn?t start,? he said. ?"You came home and were sometimes denigrated when you should have been celebrated. It was a national shame, a disgrace that should have never happened."

In many parts of the country today, older Vietnam vets are mentoring young veterans of war in Iraq and Afghanistan, helping them get through tough economic times and tougher memories of combat.

?It?s here we feel the depth of your sacrifice,? Obama said to the assembled Vietnam vets and their families on Memorial Day. ?You did your job. You served with honor. You made us proud, and you have earned your place among the greatest generations.?

Then, at their memorial site ? Washington?s most-visited place of national historical significance ? Obama said the words Vietnam vets typically say to each other: ?Welcome home.?

You may need a listing of 40 to 50 goods the least bit so as to create an internet commerce web page.

It?s always better to create a niche market keep in lieu of an on-line shop. They are simpler to handle and are generally much more successful both equally limited-phrase well as in the long run. Whenever you Search engines ?online store?, you will get about a zillion effects and this is not getting into the most notable positions of the major search engines. A distinct segment retail outlet aids here. Yet another denote take into account when making a stock trading web page should be to have as filter a niche market as you possibly can. This becomes smaller on the market place but raises your visitors and money making.

When constructing a company web page you?ll want to set up a technique of fee. There are many however the most sensible is PayPal as 95Percent of on the net people possess a PayPal account. It?s also risk-free and simple to operate. If you wish to consider alternative ideas you might use other people like 2Checkout or Invoice Me Afterwards. Decide on a technique you wish ideal.

An aggressive price tag and a powerful online strategy are very important to be successful within your opportunity. Complete a good pitch and continue to give your buyers equally as much details as it can be. It is very important to create some trust.

Additional problems encountered is selecting what you should provide on the web. Certainly, promoting one thing that carries a lot of need with reduced competitors are much more money-making. Having said that, marketing almost anything on the internet, you need to simply find the correct target audience.

Burned On A Restaurant Hot Plate? Legal Options - Exposed

Hot plates are used by restaurants all around the country to offer foods to customers as well as to heat and chill foods. The fact is that, accidents do take place and customers can occasionally experience moderate or perhaps severe burns from theses hot plates, resulting in financial costs to take care of the injured customers. In order to successfully sue a restaurant for hot plate burns, customers must demonstrate that the establishment was negligent. A personal injury lawyer can assist you with the entire process.

Legal negligence occurs when the offending party performs an action that risks the safety of another individual. Restaurants, in addition to their staff, have a legal duty to guarantee the foods and beverages they serve satisfy the safety standards enforced by local and federal departments of health.

In accordance with appropriate conduct, restaurants are typically required to inform patrons of potential hazards during the food service process. For example, if a consumer orders a dish presented using a hot plate, the menu or waiter should warn the customer about temperature concerns. If the establishment does not offer an appropriate warning and then a consumer is injured, the chance for a law suit based on negligence exists.

Immediately record every single detail of the accident to start the whole process of your personal case. Even minute details, such as what you were wearing or a waiters response to the incident, can help you prove your case. Record detailed notes on the placement of the dish, exactly what the waiter said plus your conversation with restaurant management. You have to also keep your medical records, as well as any related reports, in a very safe place. Most of all, you should check the statute of limitations on this kind of case enforced by your state.

As a plaintiff in a burn case, you must prove each of the elements of a negligence case:

Duty ? The plaintiff must prove the restaurant, or its employees, had a duty to exercise care when performing the service.

Breach of Duty ? The plaintiff must prove the fact that the restaurant, or its employees, breached the established duty of care.

Causation ? The plaintiff must prove that the actions of the restaurant?s employees caused the injury.

Damages ? The court must decide if a reasonable person would have suffered damages from the causation of the injury.

Within this particular area of legal negligence or tort law is where you will find the personal injury attorney providing his expertise. Attorneys in this area of law help their clients with physical or psychological injury claims stemming from automobile accidents, product injuries and service injuries. Personal injury attorneys make use of their knowledge to your case by performing an initial interview or consultation, reviewing the facts and evidence of the actual situation and determining whether or not the case can be successfully tried in court. Once this is definitely determined, the lawyer will file the appropriate paperwork and represent you in court.

Kathy Chittley-Young is a civil attorney who is experienced in all areas of injury law including medical malpractice, motor vehicle accidents, slip and fall accidents, and wrongful death. A gene previously linked to too much growth in patients has now also been linked to growth restriction. Different forms of the gene can lead to very different conditions, according to research published today in the journal Nature Genetics.

IMAGe* syndrome is a rare developmental disorder which can affect foetal growth, resulting in smaller than average body and organ size. Without treatment, the disorder can have potentially life-threatening consequences from adrenal gland failure.

The condition was first identified twenty years ago by Eric Vilain, then a researcher in France. Now, Professor Vilain and colleagues at the University of California, Los Angeles, together with researchers at the UCL Institute of Child Health in the UK, have identified the disorder as being caused by a particular mutation of a gene known as CDKN1C, found on chromosome 11. They made their discovery after analysing DNA samples from an Argentinian family affected by IMAGe syndrome, together with existing samples from patients collected over the past two decades.

Scientists have known for some time now that CDKN1C plays an important role in regulating cell growth. Mutations of this gene have been previously associated with an 'overgrowth' syndrome called Beckwith-Wiedemann syndrome, which causes large body parts and large organs and carries an increased risk of tumours. The link with IMAGe is the first time that the gene has been associated with growth restriction.

"We discovered a mutation in chromosome 11 that consistently appeared in every family member affected by IMAGe Syndrome," explains Professor Vilain. "We were a little surprised, though, because the mutation was located on a gene previously recognised as causing Beckwith-Wiedemann Syndrome. Finding dual functions in one molecule is an unusual biological phenomenon. These two diseases are polar opposites of each other.

"The results are particularly special for me as we have finally been able to identify the cause of the condition that I first encountered twenty years ago. This is a big step forward and should help affected families in the future. We can now use gene sequencing as a tool to screen for the mutation and diagnose children early enough for them to benefit from medical intervention."

In fact, the researchers found that IMAGe syndrome was only associated with changes in the maternal CDKN1C gene. If only the copy of the gene inherited from the father carried the mutation, the child was unaffected. This process of 'switching on' genes differently depending on whether they are inherited from the mother or the father is known as 'imprinting'. Some scientists believe that imprinted genes have evolved to play an important role in how the foetus develops in the womb; a smaller foetus carries an advantage to the mother as it increases her chances of survival during childbirth, whilst the father's genes may work to increase the birth size and hence chances of survival of the offspring.

Dr John Achermann, a Wellcome Trust Senior Research Fellow at the UCL Institute of Child Health, UCL, says: "Our surprising finding shows that different changes in the same gene can lead to very different effects. The results give us clues not only in relation to growth during human development, but also to how cells grow and divide and lead to tumours."

Irwin shoots his age with 66, trails leaders by 2

BENTON HARBOR, Mich. (AP) ? Hale Irwin shot his age ? and was so frustrated afterward he might switch putters before playing again.

Just over a week before his 67th birthday, Irwin shot a 5-under 66 on Friday in the second round of the Senior PGA Championship. He trailed leaders Roger Chapman and John Cook by two strokes heading into the weekend, but Irwin wasn't the least bit satisfied with his work on the greens.

"I know the greens are difficult, but some of the putts I missed today are not that difficult," Irwin said. "So I'm a little discouraged with that to the point where I might even change to another putter (Saturday) that's similar, but a different putter. I can't putt any worse."

Cook also had a 66 to match Chapman at 7 under after a more forgiving day at Harbor Shores. Chapman had a 67.

Michael Allen broke the course record with a 64, recovering nicely from a first-round 77. But Irwin was the focus afterward. He even arrived for his post-round news conference while Cook was still finishing his.

"When you can shoot your age in a major championship, they ought to give you bonus points," Cook said. "Lift, clean and throw or something ? for the rest of the week."

Chapman, from England, led by a stroke after the first round and didn't make a bogey Friday until the par-5 ninth, his final hole. Irwin also bogeyed No. 9.

That was the lone blemish on Irwin's scorecard, but he was disappointed he didn't shoot an even better score.

Starting his round on the back nine, Irwin birdied four of his first six holes. He went on to add birdies on Nos. 2 and 5.

Most of Irwin's birdies came on short putts from about 5 feet and in. The par-5 fifth was the exception.

"A long putt there ? made one of about 12 feet," Irwin said. "Really a big putt, in case you can't see the cynicism in my comments."

Irwin has won this major championship four times, although not since 2004. He was the 54-hole leader last year at Valhalla but finished fourth.

He has won a record 45 times on the Champions Tour, but not since 2007.

Steve Pate (69) and Loren Roberts (67) were tied for fourth, two strokes behind Irwin. Joel Edwards (67) and David Frost (70) were another stroke back, and Allen was part of a larger group at 1 under.

Allen, the 2009 champion at the Senior PGA, is the Champions Tour's money leader this year. No player has recovered from a first-round 77 to win this event, but Allen is at least back in the picture after a terrific performance Friday. He hit 17 greens in regulation after reaching only seven in his first round.

"I didn't get too overly dramatic about it, but I knew I had to play a good round today and I didn't want to come out here and embarrass myself," Allen said. "I love the challenge, like on the Tour, of playing a really hard course, and that's what this is."

After a windy opening day, scores dropped by an average of nearly three strokes at the 6,822-yard course next to Lake Michigan.

"A lot cooler," Chapman said. "It was very hot yesterday for us English boys. It was 88 or something I think yesterday."

There are still two days remaining, and conditions could easily take a turn for the worse. Earlier this week, players were apprehensive about the difficulty of the greens on the Jack Nicklaus-designed course.

Irwin likened it to the 1974 U.S. Open at Winged Foot, which he won at 7-over par.

"There was a lot of disgruntled players in '74, and 70 percent of them were out of the tournament before the tournament even started," Irwin said. "I think we saw some of that perhaps this week when you see these greens. And they can be maddening. There's no doubt about it."

Rev. Gilbert H. Caldwell: Words Matter

"Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere."

These words of Martin Luther King have become almost like a mantra to me. My entire life in the pulpit has taught me that words do matter and our values are reflected in words.

This mantra has served to remind me that even as I remember the injustices that my African and African-American ancestors experienced, and as I have experienced personally because of my race, I must not be unaware of, insensitive to, or disregard the injustices that others experience. Their injustice experience may not be race-based, but whatever the reason, theirs is an injustice that is linked to the injustice I have known.

I joined the struggle for LGBT equality because of this shared experience of injustice. No immediate member of my family is an LGBT person, and my sexual orientation is heterosexual, but if I claimed to embrace the words of Dr. King, I must live and act out the values of those words.

The recent announcement of the board of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) proclaiming their support for marriage equality for same-sex couples was for me a long-awaited decision by an organization that has been such a stalwart in the struggle for Constitution-based equality and justice for African Americans. The NAACP, through some of its branches, had resisted the efforts of some states that opposed marriage equality, but the decision by the national board has historic importance for a host of reasons, including that words do matter.

There was a moment in the press conference announcing the decision by the NAACP when the words of Martin Luther King showed themselves to be personal to Ben Jealous, the President of the NAACP. In response to a question, he choked up as he remembered how a couple, not a same-sex couple but an interracial couple, his parents, had to encounter and transcend the legally enforced bias once imposed on interracial couples when they sought to be married.

It has been difficult for me to understand how any person who is aware of the prohibitions against interracial marriage of the past, who cannot comprehend how that could be true in the United States of America, would not feel the same way about the denial of marriage equality to same-sex couples today.

When I first heard of the action of the NAACP, I thought of Dr. King's words and of someone who embodied them as a life member of the NAACP: Kivie Kaplan. Kivie was known throughout the nation, particularly among blacks, for his enthusiastic commitment to the NAACP, as a national board member and officer of the organization. A white Jewish man from Boston, Kivie was deeply involved in the efforts of Jews to challenge the insensitivity and bias they experienced, and he also understood the similarities of injustice, as well as the meaning of Martin Luther King's words about the interconnectedness of injustice. He always saw the relationship between the struggles of his people and the words and actions of the NAACP.

I also thought not just of Dr. King's words but of the words of a song by Billy Taylor, the gifted jazz musician: "I wish I knew how it feels to be free. I wish I could break all the chains holding me."

The founders of our nation, despite their sometimes contradictory actions, believed that all persons were created equal. They believed that this was a "self-evident" truth. That is why Martin Luther King, in his famous speech at the Lincoln Memorial, repeated those words in his call for civil rights: "I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the meaning of its creed: We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all [men] are created equal."

I find it especially encouraging when persons whose may have experienced exclusion for reasons of race, place of birth, or otherwise affirm marriage equality for same-sex couples. Colin Powell, for example, a person of color with a Caribbean background, in an institution -- the military -- that once was racially segregated, understands, through experience and insight, the foolish folly of bias against any person or group.

It is why when the president of the United States stood up and uttered his support for marriage equality for same-sex couples, it mattered. It is why, when the NAACP passed a resolution supporting same-sex marriage and spoke of the relationship between their work and LGBT equality, it mattered. And it is why when our former Secretary of State, a retired four-star general of the U.S. Army, stood up this week in support of marriage equality, it mattered.

When marriage equality for same-sex couples becomes a national reality, the legal chains that have for so long limited the freedom of LGBT persons and same-sex couples will be on their way toward being broken completely, and we all will have moved closer to the one day when our national creeds are reflected in our deeds without exception.
